Heritage Now Fining For Parking

Everybody please be warned. The Heritage have taken to clamping anyone parked outside the gym, inside the gym car-park (if you are not using the gym) and in front of the hotel. They don't bother with warnings and they don't release your car until they collect the money. They've already 'done' one of us, don't let yourself be the next. €65 is a lot of money to hand over.

You have been warned.

Accomodation for Ballina

The Salmon Run Triathlon is Trilogy's official weekend away for 2008. Taking place in Ballina on Saturday 12 July, you will not only be taking part in one of Irelands best-loved Sprint-distance races, but you will also be able to soak up the atmosphere of a week-long festival (i.e. party). The triathlon comes towards the end of the festival, and so you will be guaranteed a huge welcome and lots of cheering on.

Ballina native Maire Marshall has managed to secure for us a superb accommodation deal for the weekend. You will be staying in a re-opened hotel that is located right at the start of the race - you literally jump into the river from the Ridgepool car park! It is also located at the centre of town - convenient for tired legs making their wayward way home that night.

Remember - this is our club weekend away - so we are looking at having a big support base for the race. Come along even if you don't have a race place, and all partners / families welcome to join us.

All the details are on the
http://www.trilogy.ie/RRBallina2008.html

There's just one catch - you must confirm your place by Tuesday 24 June and pay by Monday 30 June.

Midlands AR Excel at The Turas

A huge well done to Patrick, Cornelius and Margot, who together with Stephen Cleary made up the Midlands AR team who finished 2nd-placed amateur team (and 7th overall) at the Turas this week.

At about 6:41pm today the team of four finished 86 hours of racing since Monday across 10 - that's 10 - discliplines. If you are having trouble working out what 86 hours racing actually means, look at it this way - there is less than 20 hours when the team weren't racing (i.e. they were sleeping or eating) since Monday morning.

Their achievement in finishing so high is a credit to their extensive training over the last 8 months.

If you haven't already done so, why not sponsor their success - all funds are going to Barnados. Click to sponsor Midlands AR. Read more about the Turas.

Arrangements for This Weekend

Due to Dunmore East race, there will be no weekend cycle this week. For anyone travelling to race, please note the meeting time is now meeting 7:00am leaving for 7:15am. Note: Registration closes 10:30, no registration is no race. And Dunmore is an awkward place to get into, so expect delays when you arrive.

Saturday Morning - Kids Events & Changes to Training Schedule

This Saturday (14 June), we have got two very big and very special events taking place in Portlaoise. Sinead is organising an Aquathon for juniors (12-18 year olds), while Kevin and Maeve are repeating the kids duathlon events that were so successful in 2007. Both events are taking place at the new Portlaoise Leisure Centre.

Your help is needed and will be rewarded with a great experience - there is nothing much more uplifting than to see children from 4 upwards doing their first transition, their determined running and nervous cycling. Try to be there as parents, and as marshalls - it promises to be a great day. Your help is appreciated from 8am til 11 or so.

After the race, the normal Saturday spin takes to the Sliabh Blooms. Leaving at about 11:30 (i.e. after the kids events), this one will be a long-ish cycle with some good climbs - perfect race season training.

More Age Group Wins for Trilogy

News has just reached Trilogy this evening of two great performances by Trilogy memebrs at last weekends Fastnet triathlon in Schull, West Cork. Maire Marshall and Cornelius Marshall finished the race in top position for their Age Groups.

Well done to you both, we look forward to seeing you back at the next Test Tri and at the Salmon Run triathlon next month.

Registration is from 9:15am and parents are required to stay for the full duration of the event.

See last years race reports - and photos - by clicking the links below.

Kilkee Update

As of last night there is no more 'double' accommodation available for Saturday. There is still some double rooms available for Friday only, and some single places available for both nights.

Kilkee Race & Accomodation

You know, legend has it that the nickname ‘Hell of the West’ was given to the race in Kilkee had nothing to do with the race itself, but because it takes such a long time to get there? Joking aside, you need to register in Kilkee before 9am, and that means leaving home well before 6am – not ideal preparation for an Olympic race.

Well thanks to Elaine Justin, Trilogy have been able to secure apartment accommodation just 60m from the beach in Kilkee for the night before and after the race. Travel down on Friday, pre-register and lie-on until breakfast.

Please note: Accommodation is limited and must be paid for in full upfront.

Price details are as follows:

Friday 27 June only (night before the race)

Single Bed - €65.00
Double Bed (2 people) - €120.00

Friday 27 June & Sat 28 June (night before and night after the race)

Single Bed - €130.00
Double Bed (2 people) - €220.00

Please use the following ‘donation’ link (Race Prepaid Fees Option on Shop Page) on Paypal to reserve. If you can’t use Paypal, text Taco for further instructions.

Trilogy At the World Championships

Somewhere in Vancouver a Trilogy Jacket can be seen smooching around the race site for the 2008 World Age Group Championships.

Inside the suit is Portlaoise native and Trilogy's man in London, Niall Collins. Some of you met Niall in the Barrow a few weeks back, some of you would also know him from Bobby's camps. For anyone who doesn't, Niall recorded a 2:10 at London Triathlon last year, and has been working hard all winter to better it.

Good luck in Vancouver, Niall, you are doing us all proud and see you back on Irish soil at Salmon Run, Ballina.
