Winter Training - Some updates for you

Thanks for filling out the surveys during the week. As it stands we have 7 Gladiators, 14 Q4Bs and 13 R'n'Bs. Details of cost and how to pay will follow later in the week. For now, here are some updates on the training nights, sessions and times. These are not finalised again.

  • Training will start Monday 10 November2. Mondays will be the mid-week run, and we will meet as normal 7:45 for 8:00 at the Heritage gym gates. (there will be a different emphasis, route, goals, type of session each week)

  • Tuesdays are rest days for all groups except Gladiators - 'Hard Core Spinning' will take place on this night for Gladiators. Venue is being finalised, but the session will start at 7:30, and its looking likely to be a hall on the Dublin road Portlaoise.

  • Wednesdays are spinning nights for the Q4Bs and the R'n'B group. There will be two sessions (8:00pm, 9:00pm) - Q4Bs go first, R'n'Bs second. Spinning is in Portlaoise Leisure Centre (new pool).

  • Thursdays is the coached swim session. Taking place in Portlaoise Leisure Centre, this will include all three senior groups. At the moment, the plan is to have one absolute beginner lane, one gladiator lane and three lanes shared by Q4Bs and R'n'Bs. Session is 9:00pm to 10:00pm pool time (i.e. be in the water for 9pm).

  • Friday is a rest day for all groups.

  • Saturdays and Sundays will have a cycle session on each. Every session will be different, but in general, one day will be short, but intense and will often include a run off the bike; the other day will be long and easy. (Exact details to follow).

  • Spinning / Hard core Turbo, and swimming are only available to group members. If you opt not to join any of the groups, then you are welcome to come along every Monday, Saturday and Sunday.

  • The first fitness tests for Gladiators and half the Q4Bs will be in November.

  • The first coach call for the Gladiators group will take place around 10 November, time to be agreed with Jamie and all Gladiators.

  • Session leaders are being appointed and will be announced at the end of this week.

Course in Childrens training

If anybody is interested in taking a certified course in the 'Code of Ethics for Children', please contact Karl. There is a 4-hr course taking place in Portlaoise on 7 November 2008, 6-10pm. The club will pay for the course for you. It is considered best practice that anyone involved in leading or coaching the childrens group, or organising childrens events should have this certification.

THANK YOU

Hi All,
A special words of thanks to all the people who attended and supported the table quiz last night and made it a great success. To all the people that made it possible esp Kate, Simon, Emer, and all those who helped with the organisation. A word of thanks to the sponsors.

Race Report & Results from Test Triathlon 6

Summary results from the sixth Test Triathlon can be found here. The full and final position (including season rankings) have also been completed, and will be available tomorrow night in O'Gormans. From Sunday onwards a full download will be up on the website.

That leaves just one thing. A race report for the last event of the series. Any takers from the race or supporters on the day?

There is a report forevery one of the previous 35 test tri and test duathlon events - it would be a shame not to have one for the last one of 2008.

Trilogrammys 2008 - Survey Closed!

53 votes have been cast, but only Sinead knows the results. Be in O'Gormans tomorrow night (9pm) to find out if you won one of 2008 most prestigious gongs!
