Well done to all who took part in last nights gusty duathlon. With headwinds slowing progress over 80% of the bike course, it is with a great sense of envy that I look on the new PBs from last night - John Fox, Liam Byrne and Paul Brennan in the seniors and Sean McCormack in the Juniors. At the top of the field Kevin Doyle and Shane Delaney may well have beaten the existing course record each if the winds hadn't 'slowed' them on the bike.
In the ladies race Sinead consolidated her lead at the top of the table, Susan broke into the top 5 despite being fatigued from a heavy weeks training and Helen entered the fray for the first time.
Over in the juniors, Michael Dalton tightened his grip on the leaderboard, winning the day and taking advantage of his rival Ross's absence, while Sean McCormack battled to third and Jonathan Robinson made his debut.
The results for last night are still provisional - there are a a small number of corrections to be made later. Well done to everyone for using the watches properly.
ImportantA final note is that the series ranking below includes for the first time the bonus points awarded for helping. The new rule this season is that 100 points are awarded for helping out. In addition, series points of 50 per finish are only given to anyone who helped out. An interesting point is that the Mens Series is currently being decided on the difference between helping out and not.
