Murt the Mechanic

Hi All,

Do you have niggling issues with your bike, rubbing brakes, slipping gears, bike sounds like an orchestra, and don't know how or have time to fix them?

Well, Murt Keane is starting a little business servicing the main tool of the Triathlon racers equipment. For €30, he will give your bike the once over, and ensure that you get the best out of it, and you will know that it is safe to go at those faster speeds!

So go on, give him a call and take more time out of the cycle!

For more, see here.

Call Murt on 087 2210377.

Photo Ratings for 2009

All Race photo galleries for 2009 will now feature a 'ratings' tool, allowing members to give between 1 and 5 stars to photos they like (or dislike!). The most popoular photos will be shortlisted for selection on the 2010 calendar.

Rate The PhotoThe way it works is that five stars should appear below every photo. Click the number of stars you think it deserves and your vote is registered.

Instant Results! After you vote you will be shown how that photo is doing overall when its score appears.

Tip:Try to keep your 5-stars for the very best shots, and give threes to anything you think is 'good', less than that to any you think should not end up in the calendar.

Why not try this out now? Click on 'Photos' at the top of this page and pick either of the two Dunmore East Galleries at the top of that page. These galleries are also linked from the race report mentioned below.

Photographers - Have your photos online

I know we had more than a couple of eager snappers at Dunmore East. If you would like your pics to go online, then please bring along your camera / memory card to the swim on Wednesday night and I will copy them from you and give your card back.

Anyone going to Kilkee this weekend with a camera, I will have the laptop with me and can either copy them there or at next week's swim.

Keep posted for the race report, results and galleries from Dunmore East over the coming days.

Test Duathlon Results Now Available

Well done to all who took part in last nights gusty duathlon. With headwinds slowing progress over 80% of the bike course, it is with a great sense of envy that I look on the new PBs from last night - John Fox, Liam Byrne and Paul Brennan in the seniors and Sean McCormack in the Juniors. At the top of the field Kevin Doyle and Shane Delaney may well have beaten the existing course record each if the winds hadn't 'slowed' them on the bike.

In the ladies race Sinead consolidated her lead at the top of the table, Susan broke into the top 5 despite being fatigued from a heavy weeks training and Helen entered the fray for the first time.

Over in the juniors, Michael Dalton tightened his grip on the leaderboard, winning the day and taking advantage of his rival Ross's absence, while Sean McCormack battled to third and Jonathan Robinson made his debut.

The results for last night are still provisional - there are a a small number of corrections to be made later. Well done to everyone for using the watches properly.

ImportantA final note is that the series ranking below includes for the first time the bonus points awarded for helping. The new rule this season is that 100 points are awarded for helping out. In addition, series points of 50 per finish are only given to anyone who helped out. An interesting point is that the Mens Series is currently being decided on the difference between helping out and not.

Important - Check entry details for NS races

Hi all,

It is really important that you check race entry details when they appear online for National Series Races. If your TI number is not listed before the race it can be very difficult to get this fixed up afterwards. This is because the race organiser has to contact TI, and in a lot of cases, the race organiser doesn’t answer race e-mails after the race is over. Last year, for example, Willie lost over 100 points because he was linked to another persons TI number, and despite weeks of trying to get it fixed he never got his points.

The next two National Series races are Dunmore East and Kilkee.

If you are expecting to enter these races, please check:

- That you are actually entered
- That you are listed for the correct age group
- That your TI number is listed
- That your TI number is correct.

Dunmore East Entry List / Kilkee Entry list

Shane Delaney is one example of a man who will be “racing for nothing” in both Dunmore East and Kilkee as his number is down incorrectly. Sort it out Shane!

Tri Athy

Hi All,

On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank all members who gave up their time to volunteer last weekend. The event was a huge success, and it went off without any major incident.

We would also like to thank Karl for all his work. We know that he puts a huge amount of time into the planning of the race, and this was easily noticable on Saturday with over 2000 competitors descending on Athy, and everything ran like clockwork!

We are not sure if he had anything to do with the weather, but if he did, fair play!

Thanks guys, and here's to next year!
