Test Duathlon - Series Results 2009

The final results for 2009 have been compiled, and it is congratulations to Sinead Wearen, Shane Delaney, Laura Ridgeway and Michael Dalton. It is worth noting that Michaels score is the maximum possible for a junior, and could only be done by being first in all three legs, doing this three times in the season and setting a PB each time. What a fantastic achievement!

All four champs all set new PBs this season, but there were many other new fastest times set. While we didn't have course records broken at Senior level, the way things are going I think that should be a goal for 2010.

Finally, well done to all competitors and to all runners-up. The top 5 of each race show consistent strong performance over the season, and this is also something that will be built on next year.

Download the final results. And next time you see Terry Wearen, make sure and thank him for a safe, successful and enjoyable series.

Tri Athlone

Guys,

We have been given the option to Marshall the Elite races, Female and Male, on after Tri Athlone, and race for free. I think this would be an interesting option, to get up close to these elite athletes. Dont forget that the European Championships are being held there next year, and any participation/help by us this year will stand for the club next year.

We need to tell the organisers ASAP, so if you are interested, please let me know ASAP.

The elite races start at 3pm and should finish aroung 7:30.

Thanks,

Roy.

The Heath Swim

Guys,

The swim in the Heath has been a great success, but we have become a bit careless with the safety aspect. We need to organise the swim so that we have a head count in the water at all times. What we are going to do is the following:

Break the swim into 2 sessions. 1st session starts at 7:10, so be at the water for 7pm and the 2nd session starts at 7:40, at water for 7:30. Once all swimmers are ready to enter the water at the correct time, a head count will be completed and the swim will start. Under no circumstances can any other swimmers enter the water until the next session is ready to get in. So, if you arrive at 7:20, you have to wait until the next session is ready to get it. It may happen that there are still some swimmers from the first session still in the water. This is OK, as they should be just finished as the 2nd session starts.

Trish has agreed to take the 1st session, and we are looking for someone to take the 2nd. Anyone willing to help, please let me know.

Hope this makes sense.

See you all on Wednesday.

Heritage Challenge 2009 - Opening for Entries soon

Trilogy's final race of the season happens on 22 August. In its fifth year, the event is being run again by Mark McManus and entries will be available from 15 July. I expect they will sell out fast, interest in this race is strong.

There will be a pre-entry period of three days for Trilogy members who marshalled at both the Portlaoise Sprint and TriAthy races.

Race entry will cost €25.00, non TI members will need to also pay a one-day licence fee. All fees are subject to paypal charges (less than €2.00).

Remember to check back here for more news later in the week, plus for details of entering the race from next Wednesday.

Results for Test Tri4

... will follow shortly. Apologies for the delay.

If anyone would like to give me a report, I'd love to put it on the site for you. Its not every time the course record goes, after all (well done Willie).
