Important Notice - Meeting about Budapest

There will be a meeting on Wednewday 10 February to plan the trip to Budapest and answer any questions. The important message is that you can still join up and could still race for Ireland (i.e. apply and get a place from TI), but this meeting will be the final opportunity.

The second important thing is that all payments are brought up to date so that flights and hotels can be booked.

Please click on the flag below to see the Race for Ireland page and to read more about the meeting, payments, etc.

2009 Member Accounts and Amounts ....

As we move to the new 'members' section of the website, the club is also ending the 'club account' system. As the club has grown, it has become unfair to

ask anyone to track all the payments in and payments out that the race entry system involved as it is a huge amount of work. So much so, that Maeve, who

left the position of Treasurer nearly 3 months ago, has only this week got to the end of the 2009 personal accounts.

As discussed at the AGM, from 2010 onwards, race entry will be via the website only and now that members can do this, any balances in the old system must be

cleared. Some members owe the club amounts for races from 2009, and some members are owed amounts back. Over the next week or so, both types of members

will be sent a text with the amount owed / owing and details of how to pay by paypal / get paid.

To keep things simple, we will be trying to: do this all via Paypal - if you owe money, you will be sent an e-mail 'invoice' for the amount - simply click

the link to pay. If the club owes you money, we will be sending you a paypal voucher which you can then spend on entering 2010 races through the club.

Keane's eye for detail

A keen-eyed member spotted that the dates for 'Hell of the West' and for 'Dunmore East' were the same in the new members area of the site. This is in fact an error, Dunmore East is on 19 June, with Hell of the West on 26 June. Apologies for any confusion and thanks to Murt for clearing this up.

Triathlon Ireland AGM

Just a note in case anyone missed it on Triathlon Ireland's site - this years AGM is being held tomorrow in Jury's Inn, Custom House Quay, Dublin. Anyone who is a member of Triathlon Ireland is entitled to attend and vote. Usually a great way to learn about and input into the development of your sport in Ireland, if you are around tomorrow and want to attend, I will see you there. For information, if you can't make it, you can still download the AGM Booklet, published on TI's website.

3. Sign-up and pay for Winter Training
4. Register and pay for your 2010 races
5. Register for all 2010 Test Triathlon and Test Duathlon events
6. See your account and payment history all in one place

Coming soon you will also be able to sign-up for
social events, write articles for the website and access a mail account.

Important Notice - From Thursday, all members are asked to join the club for 2010 online. You must renew your membership to continue to be a member of the club in 2010. Membership of the club remains free, but you will need to be a member of Triathlon Ireland.

Happy New Year, Happy New Races

Two Trilogy Races have opened for registration this week. TriLaois, on 10 April this year is filling fast. The race is perfect for beginners, so if you know someone thinking of making Triathlon their resolution for 2010, then point them over to www.trilaois.ie.

As agreed at the AGM, we would ask club members not to enter TriLaois at this time - Race Director Patrick Marshall hopes to be able to offer some places at a later time, but wants to secure the volunteer help first.

Also, today TriAthy IV registration opened. TriAthy in 2010 will be organised for the first time by Trilogy only.

As a 2-day event, with four major races, this is a huge opportunity for the club to showcase itself nationally, and I look forward to giving more updates in a couple of months time. The race is very important for the club in other ways too, and so I am going to get my plea in earlier than ever before - we will be relying very heavily on every club member to volunteer themselves and another person to make the race a huge success for all of us.

Check out the new TriAthy website at http://www.triathy.com

OK, the break is over!

Guys,

Unfortunately, the time has come to lift our behinds up from the sofa, and start working off those mince pies and selections boxes. The run will be on Monday (weather permitting), starting at 8pm at the running track in Port Laoise. You need to be there and ready to stretch at 7:45 as there is no waiting for anyone!

I would also like to apologise for the problems we have had getting the spinning sorted. We have not been able to get any more times from the gym, so it looks like Wednesday nights.
I have had 23 to the survey on spinning, and the overwhelming majority (20) want Wednesday night. Also, we are yet to have a full session on a Wednesday night. So, there does not seem to be the numbers for a Tuesday night session.
So, spinning will re-start on Wednesday night at 9pm.

Swimming will also be back on Thursday night at 9pm.

Here's hoping 2010 brings us all a prosperous year and a successful triathlon season.

Roy.
