New Cycling Gear

Guys,

We have a lot of new members this year, and I know it can be an expensive time for them. So again, like last year, we have a contact that can provide us quality gear at trade prices (and sometimes cheaper). If anyone needs any shoes, helmets, shorts etc. please let me know and I will see what he has.

Also, we have some club gear available again this year. We are short some sizes, (which I am working on getting), but we do have tri-suits, cycling jackets, cycling top and running top.

So if you need any equipment, email me at here and I will get back to you.

Thanks,

Roy.

Portlaoise Try-athlon - almost full

Just a quick one to let everyone know that TriLaois is now closed for Senior and Intervarsity entries. I will still take a small number of Women in Sport candidates if there is any interest - this is for Ladies from Laois and surrounds who are up for the challenge of the triathlon and interested in some free coached training. A really great way to convince friends and relations that triathlon is a great sport to pick up in 2010.

There are also a few places left for Juniors and Relays, but the entire race looks like it will close in about a weeks time.

Race Officials Training

Become qualified to officiate at Triathlon Ireland races this Spring and you can earn a few euros in expenses during the Summer. TI are putting on a free training course for Referees and Technical Delegates who can then be selected to represent TI at races during the season.

If you are selected, you can claim expenses of €50 plus mileage plus any other reasonable expenses associated with your duty. Expenses are paid direct to your bank account about 2 weeks after claiming.

Officials are selected early in the year (about April), so you will know well in advance which races you are needed for. You are normally expected to cover 2 races per season, and races are given according to experience (i.e. you won't be expected to referee triAthlone if you are just qualified!)

The course dates are below, if you are interested in attending (no cost), please send a mail to administrator@triathlonireland.com with your name and club (this bit is important as all clubs are expected to contribute).

The courses are also open to trained officials who want to refresh.

Cork – Saturday 27th February
Venue: The Gresham Metropole, MacCurtain Street, Co Cork
Time: Registration from 10:30am, course starts at 11:00am sharp

Galway – Saturday 6th March
Venue: Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Galway, Lough Atalia Road, Galway
Time: Registration from 10:30am, course starts at 11:00am sharp

Dublin – Saturday 20th March
Venue: Jurys Inn Custom House, Custom House Quay, Dublin
Time: Registration from 10:30am, course starts at 11:00am sharp

Race Entry Service Up and Running

The first of the 11 races in the Race Entry Service opened for business last Tuesday. Roy was on the ball and secured places for all Trilogy Members who had pre-paid to be a part of the service. This is all the more impressive given that the race (North Tipp Sprint) sold out in half a day.

This weekend Joey Hannon opens and its very likely it too will sell out quickly. So, a reminder of the steps to signing up for the Race Entry Service in 2010.

  1. Join Trilogy Online - if you haven't already, or Login if you have

  2. When you log in to your account, you will see sidebar options as follows:
    • 2010 Races Entry Service (pay in full)
    • 2010 Races EntryService (by instalment)

  3. Select your races by ticking the boxes on the relevant pages

  4. Click 'Order' to add the races to your account

  5. Payment is calculated as the full race entry price, or by instalment (five equal amounts over 5 months)

  6. The Order is completed only when you make a payment in Paypal (in full or first subscription).

  7. This is the list Roy, Mick and Mark will use to enter you into chosen races

  8. You can always see the races you are down for in your 'Payment History' page

  9. If you change your mind and the race hasn't opened yet, contact karl@trilogy.ie to cancel your payment and get a refund (this will be confirmed by e-mail to you)

  10. If you change your mind after the race has opened, and the club has entered you into the race, you will need to contact the race directly to get a refund

As in previous years, we are now in the part of the season when races open and close very quickly. Get joined up and pick your races now and let the club look after the rest.

Junior Training Starts Saturday

Just a note from Sinead on the Juniors Page ...

"Hey everyone. I want you to start your runs after swim club on Saturdays. On Sunday I will be leaving from the gym for a cycle at 10:30 sharp. If you are joining me, please be there from 10:20 and ready to go. See you all soon.
Sinead."
