No need to mail Amanda

Anyone going to Athlone who received a text or had a look at the site yesterday, please note that you do not need to contact Amanda (don't worry about it if you did). Also, there is no need to contact me. Your gear is already ordered and will be available to you in Athlone. Amanda's e-mail was in relation to other gear.

Thanks, and apologies for the crossed wires.

Big Brother Housemates revealed ...

See the Athlone page, rooms now updated.

Just one other thing ... the page on triathlone.com about marshalling includes a way to register as marshal. You do NOT need to do this - I've registered us all as a group.

TriAthy on TV

Check out www.kildare.tv for some brilliant footage of TriAthy. Thoughts, analysis and slagging over on Chat!

Tip! There is the main video on the home page of Kildare.tv but there is also more on the sports channel also - almost 1hr coverage in all. Who needs the World Cup?

TriAthlone Marshalling - Update

Roy, Trish and I headed to Athlone on Saturday to find out more about the race. I have put up a whole heck of info at the page below - important reading for anyone either racing, marshalling or both.

We now have just 2 spots left in the Trilogy apartments. After these two go, I will take a small number of people onto a 'Waiting or Sofa List'. You wait for a bed to come up, or you get the sofa!!

I will be updating the Athlone page over the rest of this week with more info about the apartments, who is marshalling and who is racing. Watch this space!

Read on for more.

Great Idea Wesley!

Wesley asked me to add in an option to put your name down for marshalling Athlone without Accomodation. This option is now live, and should be used if you are planning to help out each day but return home. Log in to select.

Test Tri 4 - Reports and Results

The next 6 Saturdays are taken up with other races, and so it won't be until the end of July that another Test Tri comes around. Today's race left plenty to savour with a brand new course record in the mens (Go on Willie!), and 9 PBs.

Read on for the report, with a link to the results at the end of the report.

Athlone - 8 beds left

We've got 8 beds left to fill in Athlone. 5 good reasons to book one of them for yourself!

  1. The Gear. You get all the below (see picture) to keep. Its exclusive, not available to competitors, or even to marshals of the triAthlone event. Just to the Elite Marshal team.

  2. Just Marshal. No set-up, no take-down. Athlone have others to do that - you only have to marshal!

  3. Unobstructed view. We're the only ones allowed the same side of the crowd barriers as the athletes. That's grand stand viewing of the best Men and Ladies in Europe.

  4. Free Holiday. OK, its a working holiday, but when you are not on duty enjoy the festival. There's music, entertainment, race parties each night, opening and closing ceremonies, and an Expo area all to enjoy.

  5. Marshalling is Race Compatible. Whatever race you are doing you will be able to do it as well as your marshal duty.

Are you coming to Athlone?

The time has come - we need final numbers for:

  • Marshalling Only

  • Marshalling with Accomodation

Please read on for more ....

Trilogy Triathlon are marshalling the run course of the European Championships in Athlone this year. It is a huge honour for our club to look after Gomez, Brownlee, Keane, Fernandez, and the rest of the top 100 triathletes in Europe; in Elite racing it is ALWAYS the run course that decides the race.

The club has dug deep into its coffers and is paying for accomodation for race week in Athlone for anyone marshalling. The accomodation is 3-sharing and is located near the Athlone IT college campus about 2km from the centre of town. Accomodation is available only to members who are either marshaling or racing and marshalling (not available to members who are not marshalling).

The accomodation is free to you, but you will need to bring a sleeping bag / bed linen. The rooms are booked for a week from Monday 28 June to Sunday 4 July inclusive (most people will be heading up Thursday 1 or Friday 2 July). You will be marshalling the elite races currently scheduled on Sat 3 July (Ladies and Juniors) and Sun 4 July (Mens and Juniors). Age group and triAthlone races are on in the morning of each day, the events we marshal are in the afternoon each day.

There are 27 places available, please log in to confirm yours.

Note: If you are marshalling but do not need accomodation, please login also and select your option. This is important as beds are in limited supply that week in Athlone!

Mystery Night Nearly Full, closing tomorrow

here are now well over 30 people with their names on the list for the Mystery Night Out on 17 July. Both time and places are running out fast. Catriona Marshal has advised that there are a maximum of 10 places left and that she must confirm the final number with the mystery venue by tomorrow night (9 July), 7:00pm. Register today, or you may miss out!

Don’t be disappointed, act fast by logging in to your account!

TriAthy Thank You

I know most of you all already know this, but I think it should be said again anyway.

Last weekend, Trilogy Triathlon Club showpieced an absolutely excellent event to almost 2,500 triathletes from across Ireland . Everything from the new swim course to the finish line ran exactly to plan, and the amount of positive feedback I am seeing is absolutely phenomenal. The biggest praise of all is for the marshals, people literally cannot believe how friendly, supportive and encouraging our team was! We might not find that so unusual – Trilogy is after all one of the friendliest, supportive and encouraging sports clubs anyone could join!

Besides the actual race itself, we were hugely impressive in set-up, registration and take down. Amazing that an entire course stretching for over 20km can be pulled apart and put away in under 2 hours.

I want all of you to be proud of this weekends achievements and remember this club pride as we go together to the rest of races this season. Viva Trilogy!

Thank you

This may be a note for the chat but I’m posting it in both. I would sincerely like to thank all the people that came to Tri Athy this weekend. From the people that turned up at 6 am to the people that stayed till 10 some nights. To the people that that made my job so easy, to the people that signed on in the morning to the people that answered all the texts I sent, to the people that reported every thing back to me in the control room. I thank you so much.
Before anything could start I needed 5 people at every vital stage from the swim start to the run end. Brian Bohnam, Trish Nichols, Roy Athkinson, Willie Fitz & Finn Ryan, I want to thank all the for the patience they had with me every time I called them. Never once did the fail to answer their phones. I rang these people maybe 20 times a day & all I can say is thank you. A special thanks has to go to Willie, I rang him 45 times over the 2 days, he had the toughest job with the bike route, to get the marshals to their point & get the 20K course opened & closed 8 times in the 2 days & this was done like clock work & he was under pressure like no one else. To Willie & everybody I say thanks.
I would also like to thank Mr Gabriel Dooley who let us use his office all weekend, he gave us full use of his phones, printers & called in every few hours to see we were OK. He offered us every assistance he could over the weekend and without it the weekend would not have run so smoothly.
To Sergeant Jim Bergin in the station who was excellent and professional at all times, I say thank you. To Karl, Arthur & Angela who put so much work into the event before we turned up and this also made it easy. I hope to see you all again next year.

Michael Farrell

A pat on the back

Guys,

On behalf of the committe, I would like to say A HUGE THANK YOU to all that made the weekend a roaring success. Thanks to all who helped, as the club could not survive without you and your help.

Thanks to Karl and the TriAthy team for organising a fantastic event.

Also, a big well done to all that raced, you did the club proud.

Finally, well done Sinead, amazing time and result (7th overall, 2nd in Age Group). Just goes to show that we have strength in depth, from juniors to seniors (and nearly senior citizens!). It also means another competitor in Budapest. Roll on September.
Also Aisling Byrne, she did her first Triathlon ever on Saturday, and did a 2:22 for an amazing time for an Olympic distance race.
Well done ladies!!

Thanks again to all who helped.

Roy.

Race Plan Finalised

The RACE version of the plan is now live. This website will not change any further. If you have any reason you cannot meet your schedule as outlined, please contact your lead marshal, who will make arrangements with you.

I'd like to thank every single one of you for all your help and support so far. I am certain we will all have a great time this weekend, let the sun shine, the race roar and let us all go home proud of a best ever TriAthy.

Bring It On!!

PS Best of luck to the 50 or so members racing this weekend, we are represented in all 4 events.

TriAthy Updates - 2 days to go now

There have been a few small changes to peoples schedule this weekend. I will be updating the web for the final time tonight, so if you are expecting to see a change, that is when you will see it.

Also PLEASE NOTE - we are no longer using the Church of Ireland hall. Instead we are using Dooley's Auctioneers, which is located about 250m out the Dublin road from Transition.

Everything marhsals need will be there - Sign on, snacks, tea, t-shirts, goodie bags, etc. It will be open all weekend and manned by Mick.

LoughKey Tri

Guys,

LoughKey Sprint Tri opened today. Only 6 people have selected it to race. We had more than that last year, so I need to know if more people want to race it.

If you do, please email me.

Thanks,

Roy.
