TriAthy - Roles, Positions & Times

With less than 5 days to go to TriAthy 2011, I have now put up on our website an individual marshall guide for all of our volunteers. This sheet gives you your own personal schedule for the weekend and where you will be on the course, based on the preferences you sent in to me. It also has lots of information about the roles, and the race.

As you will see, this is not just a long list of marshalls - each person has a very specific role at specific times.

This is because we have an overall plan to marshall the race, and if you are not able to be there, then we will have a gap in cover, a junction might not be secured on the bike, there could be a gap in safety cover, or your clubmates will be put under pressure to cover their role and yours.

So, if I have made any mistakes, or if your availability has change, please get in touch.

I am hoping to finalise the plan (no more changes) at 10:00am on Thursday, and to put the final plan up here on the website at that time.

Thank you all again!

Link to list of marshalls – Could I ask club members to let their volunteers (who may not see this website) know please?

Thank You .... Nearly there now

Just to say a quick thank you to everyone so far for the help with TriAthy.

Saturday, the biggest of the two days, is more or less full, with a few positions to be filled for the later race.

As you will see from the graphic alongside this page, Sunday still has a few positions to go; we would be a lot more comfortable with 5 or 6 more people – if anyone can help for a few hours (10-2 or so).

Results From Test Duathlon 4 ** Link Now Working**

Last nights duathlon results are further evidence of the months going backwards and being mixed up. The warm, dry conditions at the end of April produced lightning fast times, and PBs galore.

The cold and windy conditions, unseasonal for the end of May, may have last night prevented any new PBs, but well done to all for competing, especially to Clement who made his debut. Thanks to Helen, Dave and all the marshalls.

Download the results from here.

Barrow Swims on Fridays

Barrow Swims this year are starting at the Rowing Club on the Monasterevin Road. Various distances depending on who is there. 7pm start.

SwimAthy - Couple of Helping Hands needed

SwimAthy is on this Sunday. This is a warm-up event for next weekend, and allows us to 'trial' our swim plan.

I will be contacting by text today the members of Trish's swim marshall team for TriAthy to see if you can make it over this Sunday for 2 hours (11-1pm), but I am also looking for help from 3-4 other people to help with registration and timing from 9am-1pm.

If anyone can help, please contact me!

TriAthy Marshalls

Thanks to everyone who has agrred to help out with TriAthy. There are a few members who have not contacted us and we would still like to hear from you. We still need marshalls. There are also some members who wish to race but have not provided marshalls. We need to hear from you asap. If any member has entered the race but has not provided marshalls then they will be withdrawn from the race!

Test Duathlon 4 - Starting list

Here is the start list for tonights Test Duathlon. This list becomes final at 1pm today.

Kieran Hoey, Taco Camphuijsen, Denise Murphy, Clement Herron, Wesley Reilly, Anthony McDonald, Mark O'Sullivan, Mick Horgan, Eimear Mathews, Sinead Wearen, Mark McManus, Murt Keane, Shane Delaney, Michael Dalton.

Helping: Helen Rockwell, Dave Osborne, Trish Nicholls, Dave Murphy, Sandra Furney

TriAthy Marshall Briefings

As in previous years, there will be a series of marshall briefing sessions in the week before the race. The idea behind these is that people can come along on race day and head to their position, rather than arriving before 8am for a briefing.

There will be one session in Portlaoise on Monday next, 30 May at 8:00pm, and this will be followed by a drink downstairs at the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise. If you can encourage your marshalls to attend this one, particularly if located in Laois.

A second session will follow on Wednesday 1 June in Athy, venue to be confirmed (8:00pm). If required, there may be another briefing on Friday 3 June in Athy.

IMPORTANT - TriAthy Marshall Placement

We are now starting to put people into positions for TriAthy. It is really, really important that you let me know if your availability has changed, or if any of your volunteer marshalls need to change your time.

By tomorrow everyone will have a job beside their name, and for that reason I need to know if they are not going to be there to do it.

By this weekend, on this website, you will see full details of all roles.

Thank you again for all your support.

Test Duathlon 4 - Tomorrow

Sign-up for Test Duathlon 4 will be by text as usual. The event is on tomorrow night, and after you get the text, please reply before 8am in the morning.

Closing out TriAthy.

We are now within 20 people of filling the volunteer roles. If you have any more names, or can do a second day, please use the link to the survey alongside this page.

Race Entry Service 2011 - Closed

Last night the final race on the Trlogy Race Entry Service opened, and the following people were entered into it (Caroline Kearney Memorial).

The service is now closed for 2011. I'd like to say thank you to the team that helped me over the last 4 months, it is to their credit that everyone who used the service was entered into their chosen race. Roy, Helen, Mick, Sinead, Taco, Trish, Mick O'N, Dave and Willie, well done all.

As you might know, the prices used for the race entry service were guesses, and actual race fees were often different. In about 2 weeks time, I will do a reconciliation of payments made to the club, and the race fees paid out to calculate any refunds / additional charges due. If the difference is under €3, there will be no refund / charge.

    Entered for CK Tri
: Willie Fitzpatrick, Dave Murphy, Wesley Reilly, Denise Murphy, Trish Nicholls, Eimear Mathews, Niall Kavanagh, Alan Hanly, Karl McCann, Susan Wall,
David Murphy.

Test Tri Mens Record

Congratulations to Shane Delaney who, despite the wind, stole the show today shaving 21 seconds off Willie Fitz's record in the Test Tri Series. Well done Shane but watch your back, Willie wants his record back!!!

Entry to TriAthy

Hi Guys, For those hardy souls who have provided 2 or more marshalls for TriAthy please note that unlike last year you must enter yourself before the race closes through www.triathy.ie . TriAthy is not part of the clubs Race Entry Scheme because it is our own race. For those members who have managed to find 4 or more marshalls, well done and thank you, please enter the race and the club will refund you the entry fee after the race. For those who still want to race but have still not nominated their marshalls, we need to hear from you asap. Members who intend racing are reminded that if they cannot find the required marshalls then they will not be able to compete and will be expected to marshall instead.

Results from today

Results from TT3 available, link below. Please note that the rankings have not been updated, this to follow over the weekend.

Thanks to Clement and the team of Marshalls, and well done to Shane and Sinead for fantastic times.

TriAthy Marshalling

Guys, We are making steady progress on Marshalls for TriAthy but we still have a long way to go. We have been in touch with all members and there are still a few out there who have not replied. Please do so asap. Members who wish to race are reminded that they can only do so if they marshall the other day and if they get 2 marshalls for their race day. If you cannot meet these conditions then regretably you will be withdrawn from the race. I understand that this frustrates some people but we cannot run TriAthy without enough marshalls. Most events do not let their own members race and we are trying to accomodate everyone. We need everyones support to make it a safe race. Sign up on the right side of this page to help.

(Temporary problems) with Trilogy News / Chat

There has been a problem since Wednesday with Blogger, resulting in some items from News / Chat disappearing. These are starting to come back now, just in case you were wondering where the photo / report from Limerick disappeared to ....

TriAthy Update

Good progress over the last 2 days (see the new chart) and we are heading towards the target.  We still need around 50 volunteers, and this weekend the committee of the club will be focussing on the 42 members who have yet to respond.  It has always been the case that the race will be marshalled by the whole club, and we still need the whole club behind it.

A big thank you to all of you who have come forward, and to your friends and relations who are coming with you.

Keep it up - Go, Trilogy Go!  To register, just click the chart ...

For now, heres my favourit picture of the day, courtesy of TI & Gordon Thomson. Click here to Read Dave's Report

Report from the Euro Duathlons in Limerick

Johnathan Robinson has sent me a brilliant report from the European Duathlon Championships. It is well worth a read (comedy, tragedy, farce and drama, it has it all!).

Dave Osborne has also sent me a report from Joey Hannon, which you should check back for later.

You can also click any item in the calendar to see more details about the event.

Check out today's updated graphic for TriAthy Volunteers. We are now over 2/3 of the way there. Despite many appeals and texts we are still waiting on over 50 members to register, so again, please register now (or click the link on the right to register).

A few members have pulled out all the stops, and deserve specific mention.

John Fox (12)
Willie Fitzpatrick (9)
Clement Herron (5)

Mark O'Sullivan, Pawel Debakowski, Shane Delaney, Sinead Wearen, Brian Bonham and Eimear Mathews - each nominated 3 others plus themselves.

Under18 Marshalls for TriAthy - Full Quota

Unfortunately, we do not have any more space for u18 Marshalls at TriAthy, as there are a limited number of roles in which these can be put - i.e. water station, finish line, etc. All of these roles are now filled for Saturday and Sunday.

TriAthy Update

A big thank you for the many responses over the weekend to the TriAthy Volunteer Register. Texts will be sent today to confirm all volunteers.

I have updated the graphic alongside this page, and as you can see we are making good progress. However, as things stand we are a good way from providing the marshalls to safely marshall the race.

There is more than half of the club, 68 members, who have not yet responded. We need you to fill out the survey please. A seperate reminder text will be sent to this group today.

Joey Hannon A Huge Success

Trilogy claimed the first prize at Joey Hannon sprint today, with the talented Michael Dalton racing as a junior, but winning as a senior. With a very impressive performance, Michael swam a sub 11:00 minute 700m swim, a sub 40:00 23km cycle and a sub 19:00 5km run, finishing 99 seconds ahead of the man in second place. Michael is pictured below with his prize.

Other good performances included Denise Murphy (1st AG) and Sinead Wearen (3rd AG, both in the Olympic) and Alasdair McCann (2nd Junior Sprint). Although Mark McManus and Shane Delaney suffered a marshall mishap, the rest of the squad performed well.

We NEED a report!

Now - that is all I am going to say. There is an abundence of photos to come, but none will appear on this site until we get a race report. So - can I please appeal to any racer or supporter to send me a race report - we're also missing ones for Nenagh. We've 7 years of reports online now, lets keep it up!
