Great Suggestion for off-season!

Thanks to Seamus Fingleton for this notice:

Next Sunday is National Trails Day and there is a guided walk at Cullenagh Mountain (near Ballyroan) at 2pm. This might be a good introduction to Cullenagh Mountain for many members as it has great potential as a winter training ground with miles and miles of hilly trails with views over the whole county.

Its great not only for those long winter runs but also for family/romantic walks for those that need to bank some Q-time before next season. Even though its 5 miles from Portlaoise, its off the beaten track and very quiet compared to some of the other forest trails in the area. Details of the walk are at this link.

The Winter training schedule will be finalised in the next few weeks, enjoy the break and look forward to a hard and enjoyable Winter's training.

We hope to have the Winter training sessions starting mid to late October.

Guys,

I am sure most of you know, Dave Osborne is doing the Challenge Henley Ironman today. He was in the water at 6:40, and is currently out on the bike.

Kind of inspiring to us all, hearing of these escapades!

URGENT - Male Team Member needed

Trilogy will be racing the first ever Team triathlon event next weekend (25 September) in Co. Armagh. The race involves 4 team members each doing a short-distance race in turn. The distances are 400m swim, 6km bike and 2km run.

The team comprises 6 members - 4 racing and 2 support / sub. At this point in time we are short the make support / sub.

The race costs nothing and there will be some pretty good stuff given away (like a special event t-shirt) together with the honour of being involved in the new event which TI and the ITU hope will feature in 2016 at the next Olympics.

So if you are free to come along, could you please text Karl on 086-2240115 before 6pm Sunday - the time at which the team has to be confirmed.

Ironman Report No.2

As Patrick and Cornelius race Ironman Wales today, this time last week a half dozen club members raced Ironman 70.3 in Galway. Seamus Fingleton had sent his thoughts on the race, and Brian Bonham has followed that with a great report of his own. This is Brian's first report to the website - I hope its the first of many.

Well worth a read - so vivid you almost have to stick on some rain gear reading it!
