Hi all
Please see link below for a Member Survey about London 2013. This is a fantastic opportunity to race at international level for Ireland, on the 2012 Olympic course.
Our previous trips to Lisbon and Budapest were fantastic experiences, and next year will surely be no different.
There will be more information in a few weeks time, including an open night about the trip in September. I know some of you will be wondering if you can qualify / be selected - if you have ANY interest at all at this stage, please assume you will be selected, and please complete the survey below.
Just to note: the survey does not commit anyone to the trip, but we are hoping to get genuine feedback and use this as a basis for planning the trip. All questions are therefore required, as are names in the survey - incomplete, anonymous and duplicate answers will not be used.
Oh, yes - closing date for the survey is one week from now ... fill it out now!
Thank you!

Test Tri 5
Well done to all those who competed in this morning's test tri and thanks to all the helpers. Times from today's test tri can be seen here.
The Test Tri scoring spreadsheet has stopped working so we don't have the full test tri series results from the last three test tris. Rest assured we have our best people (not me!) working on fixing/rebuilding it

Race Reports Galore
I'm absolutely thrilled to say that not one, not two, not even three race reports, but FOUR landed in my inbox over the past couple of days. AND... I'm on a promise to receive at LEAST one more report from Mark O'Sullivan too. Someone out there must have a tale to tell on their day in Kilaloe recently also??????
Dave Osborne kicks things off here with his report on his BIG Birthday Pikeman Race, in which he recounts how his dismount 'landed' him in trouble.... for a great read click here: Pikeman '12 Race Report by Dave Osborne.
Pikeman 12 photos and race results can be found here.
I must say, I read back through my own race report last week on Groomsport '11 and thought to myself... This is the BEST reason for putting together a report. It serves as a diary to look back on when the detail of the event has faded in memory. To date Groomsport still ranks as my all time favourite race. I'm a little jealous of this years participants. And I'm loving the different perspectives from Susan, Sinéad & Dave Murphy below. Massive congratulations are owed to the secretive 7 who all completed their challenges in flying form. There's much cagey mentionings of 'going on tour staying on tour' in these reports.... hmmm... Enjoy the read by clicking on the links below.

Groomsport '12 by Susan Wall A first attempt at the half distance, and with an injured knee. A great race report.
Dave Murphy's Groomsport '12 Race Report A very modest report, playing down Dave's fantastic achievement.
Sinead Wearen's Report Roth & Groomsport '12 Complete with Groomsport results at the end, Sinead shares her experiences in completing both FULL and half ironman distance races in the past couple of months.
Well done to all.

Committee Update
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give a quick update on another Committee meeting held on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Items covered were
London 2013: As most of you are aware, we are planning a club trip away to the World Championships on 14th and 15th September next year in London. Karl McCann has kindly offered to help co-ordinate the organisation of this and is currently looking into travel and accommodation options and we discussed some of these. We will be also looking to gauge the level of interest amongst members and will be putting up payment instalment plans in due course. Everyone is welcome to travel - competitors, non-competitors, allicadoos and families. A number of members have already qualified and we expect that any member who wants to compete should be in a position to qualify. If you have any questions about how to qualify then let me know. More info to follow in due course.
Gear: Trish has received a sample of the Champ Systems ITU model trisuit in the club colours. These are excellent quality suits and will not suffer from the see-through problem of the old suits and maintain the same club design. Trish is ordering samples in all sizes with the aim of having them by the AGM for people to try on and order. We also are working on Beanies and Hoddies.
Website: Patrick ran through the new website in detail with us - see more details in separate post below.
Training: Denise is reviewing the training as the season and training numbers starts to tail off. Changes will be updated on the Calendar and in the weekly texts. Also, we have pencilled in Test Aquathon 3 for Wed 5th September and Test Tri 6 for Sat 22nd September which will bring the season to a close for most.
Financial Year: This has traditional ended on 31 October however this is a little awkward as we normally start taking in money for winter training for the following season before then. As a result we are bringing the financial year forward to 30 September. This will also allow us to meet some earlier affiliation deadlines from TI and will also allow an earlier AGM in late Oct/early Nov. This will allow the 2013 and future new committees a longer lead time before the season kicks off in the new year.
That's it in a nutshell. Any questions/suggestions then let me know seamus@trilogy.ie

Test Aquathon 2
Start List : Sinead Wearen, Dave Murphy, Pawel Debakowski, Mark Neilon, Trish Nicholls, Liz Maree and Seamus Fingleton. Handy Helpers : Dave Osborne and Aoife McEvoy. Looks like it might be a downstream swim as the river has a bit of flow. Race will be subject to the weather gods.
New Website
Hi all,
After months of hard work from Patrick on our new website, we hope to be in a position to switch over to the new site early next week. This will mean that the look and fell of the site will be slightly different to the current one although the content for now will be broadly similar. The huge advantage that this brings is that it will make it an awful lot easier to update (i.e. post messages, race reports and photos). It will also have an open chat section which we will encourage all members to use and post up messages, photos and items on.
This really future-proofs our website, makes it more robust, allows us more flexibility and removes the significant time required to update the current site. There are some things in the background that are still being worked on and there may be some teething problems and we may want to chop and change once we see how members are using it - so please bear with us while we work through this.

Pikeman Race Report
A big thank you to Trish Nicholls who is leading by example in providing us with a great race report from The Pikeman in Rosslare a few weeks back. It seems to be the norm in race reports this year to see heavy rain mentioned, seconded only by the frequent mentioning of Dave Osborne's flying mounts!!! Click here to view: Pikeman Race Report by Trish Nicholls
There are more race reports out there I'm certain of it. If you've raced recently, please send in a report to helena@trilogy.ie
