Trilogy Gear - Still not here
Sorry to everyone waiting on the gear, I am trying to find out where it is at the moment. A delivery received earlier in the week turned out to not be the gear. I will post more news when I have some.

Bobby Behan Weekend - Report
I am just back from a Bobby Behan weekend, and I can tell you all, hand on heart, its the best triathlon investment I have made in 5 years. For a little less than two race entry fees, I came away with a clear direction for improving my swimming, a clear idea how to plan and schedule my training, and some very useful cycle and run sessions that I look forward to incorporating into my training.
Bobbys simple, no-nonsense personality combined with his unique experience of world-class triathlon and cycling is inspiring, and I think driving home last night all ten of us on the course felt on a high, reinvigorated and ready to build for the season ahead.
Thanks to Bobby for everything, Joe for all his input on the bike and Olympian Aideen and Sports Scientist Brian for all the additional advice.
All I can say is "Get in touch with Bobby and book your Weekend".

Table Quiz - The right date this time!
The Table Quiz Willie is organising teams for is actually on 6 March, not 28 February as previously mentioned.
Wednesday, 20 February 2008
A couple of events to note
1. Willie is looking to enter a few teams into a table quiz in Egans next Thursday 28 February. The people organising it always support our Table Quiz, so it is a very good excuse to get involved. COntact Willie for teams (he has one and a bit teams already!).
2. There is a Blazing Saddles cycle this Sunday from the Dolmenn in Carlow (meet 9:30am). 60km, no hills and your entry fee includes a lunch stop. €30 I think - Finn knows more.
3. Waterford club duathlon is on this Saturday. Patrick is keen to go, and rather than him being used to support another club, please get in touch if you are interested in joining him (ideally we'd have five duathletes). See post a few weeks back below.
4. Did I mention the AGM? Monday, 7:30, Heritage.

2008 AGM - Next Monday. Show you care by being there!
Trilogy's Fifth AGM takes place next Monday starting 7:30pm in the Heritage Hotel (room kindly sponsored by the hotel).
There is a very packed agenda, and to help out I have put up a page and a load of downloads for you to see before the night.
Click here for Agenda and Briefing Information.
If you have any matter or motion you want raised you are free to mention it on the evening. Or even better, let me know in advance and I will change the Agenda.

T-Shirts, T-Shirts, last of the T-shirts (SALE!)
On the one hand, we have a big box of T-shirts taking up space in Willies house. On the other we have a very jaded bank account paying out instructors, venues, airlines and races.
We thought we'd solve two problems with one sale.
So get the last of the t-shirts at the AGM. We still have some of all types, and we have most sizes. And if Willies new car boot goes home empty, we'll all be better off!
They will sell for €10 for 1, €15 for two and €20 for three.
Wear them with pride.

Apologies for Slow Service
The Trilogy Laptop finally packed in last week. And while no data was lost, I now have much much less access to the web - so updates have not been so frequent.
Help me out and start stirring up some chat!

Cycle Tomorrow (Sat 16/02/08)
We have a great group cycle planned for tomorrow. It works best with a few small groups (three groups is ideal). So please come along and support (we need at least 12 people to have three groups). One group will be beginner friendly / slow paced.
We meet 8:45am at back of gym and leave at 9am. The cycle takes about 2hrs, and while the weather is to be good, its still a little chilly on the bike – so please wrap up warm.

Square Deal at the Square Meal – 1st Social Event of 2008!
Trilogy Triathlon are holding their first event on the social calendar – and it’s a big one! The night out is being arranged to for two very good reasons – one, to mark a couple of important member occasions over the last few months (engagements, births and marriage) and two, to welcome the many new members who have joined us since last season. (Its been so long since we hada good night out, these new members are probably wondering if training is all we ever do!)
So to the details. We are booking out the Square Meal at the top of town for Friday evening 7 March. To keep things simple, we are having a set menu for you to choose from on the night, and all meals are €30 per person. We will collect this from you on the night, and drinks will be billed by the restaurant separately.
We have the place to ourselves, so we look forward to having a good night out in the exclusive company of friends! Your spouse / partner / date is not only welcome, but encouraged to attend.
For now, keep the date free. In a few days time, there will be a facility on the website to reserve places (we can take about 60 people), and closer to the time, I will post up the menu and any other details (such as the time we meet, and where we are heading afterwards).

Its Only February, but we're on our way to winning!
Well done to both Trish Nicholls and Stephen O'Toole who won their age group prizes at todays Naas Wheelworx Duathlon. Showing great form, O'Toole - well experienced on this course - cooly cruised to the podium, where he was joined by Nicholls - showing no sign of her recent calf injury.
Patrick Marshall also raced well, finishing high up the field - not bad for a man who rides pedals without cleats and locks his helmet in the car with his keys before the race - nothing like a little extra pressure on race day!
And well done to race ref Willie, who presided over an incident free and very successful race.
Lets hope this is the start of many prizes this year - I hear the new gear looks great on the winners podium!

A First for Trilogy
On Sunday, Willie becomes Trilogy's first race official when he referees the Wheelworx Duathlon at Punchestown. And no, that does not mean any exceptions for the Trilgy crew taking part. Not even you, Ironman O'Toole.
Good Luck!

Water Safety Courses - We Sponsor You!
As triathletes we spend a good deal of time in the water, and I am sure we have all had a scary experience - in the pool, in the sea, in a river or lake.
Laois County Council are running 10 week water safety courses for adults, starting Tuesday week (19 Feb). The course involves a one-hour session weekly from 9pm to 10pm, and at the end of the course you will be certified in Irish Water Safety. The only requirement is that you can currently swim 25m (one length).
The cost of this course is €60. If you are interested and available to complete this course, Trilogy will pay this cost for you. Just contact me and I will arrange your place.
A seperate course for Juniors (12-16 years old) starts Saturday mornings from 1 March. Trilogy will also consider Junior candidates for this course.

Theres a nice little duathlon competition being planned down in Waterford. Called the Tramore Duathlon, one of the main prizes at stake is the 'Club Prize'. Basically, 5 athletes will race as indiviuals, and their times will be added up and compared against other clubs. The fastest club time wins.

Last Saturday's Cycle - Scary?
Last Saturday 10 members went on an excellent bike training session. Safe, controlled and focussed, I certainly felt good about it.
However ...
10 People Went Out
2 People had paid for 2008 TI membership
0 People were insured (insurance only valid if all 10 are TI members)
Its simple. We are all insured, or we are all not insured. Membership of TI costs just €5, it includes insurance for your training and theres a link on the front page of this website, and everything else is done for you.
No insurance is no excuse!

Final call for coaching course
This is your last chance to show your interest in being trained as a triathlon coach. So far, I have one person interested - any others, please step forward.
If you are interested, your details will be given to TI who then select the candidates for the course. If you succesfully complete the course you will be qualified and certified to coach triathlon in Ireland.

Spinning & Run Brick Session
From tomorrow night you can combine your spin session with a run around the Killenard track directly after the 7:15 class. For the next couple of weeks, this will be free in order to gauge the level of demand. After that (if there is actually demand) there will be an additional cost for this, but it will be small.
Anyone interested in running, see Willie after class 1 tomorrow. The run will depart promptly after spinning, with just enough time to you change your top (well, mine s normally normally 'soaked' after spinning anyway)!
I am also interested in hearing from people in the second class - this option is not yet available to you, but please let me know and I will see what can be done.
One final thing. Spinning is full, so I cannot facilitate class 'swaps'. Please don't ask me to do this, instead keep your 8:30 class and let me know your interest and I will try to find a way for you to run.

... and this years nominations are ....
Just a quick words-up for you. Stephen O'Toole is being honoured tonight with a special award for his many years assistance with and service to sports development. The award is being made in his native Templemore, and I would like to extend to Stephen all our congratulations for a richly deserved award.
Stephen, may you continue to inspire us all.
