Lisbon Course Changes
Thankfully the eight lap madness on the bike is now a more straightforward 20km twice route. So out-and-back, out-and-back. They probably nicked the idea from TriAthy!

Important Lisbon Updates
Some important Lisbon announcements
1. Mick is trying to arrange a team photo and will be in touch. We hope to get all nine racers in their Trilogy gear, all in the one place - help him out with this if you can.
2. There will be a conference call with Triathlon Ireland on Tuesday night, 29 April. Dial-in details and exact time is to be confirmed. The call will be chaired by the Team Ireland Championship Manager, and its important that all competitors try to make it.
3. We will be having a second conference call (probably directly after the TI one) to discuss packing, bike-boxing, transport arrangements before we leave, itinerary for the trip, questions about accomodation etc. Anyone travelling will be invited to attend this.
4. Finally, Leinster Sports Clinic have very kindly offered a sports massage to Trilogy's fastest competitor in Lisbon. And to make a fair comparison between the finishing times of both sexes, ladies will be given a 20 minute handicap.

Promises / Lies
Unfortunately the gear company are much better at making promises than making deadlines. There is a slim chance that the gear will come today, if it does - great, I will have gear with me tomorrow at Test Tri. If it doesn't then I hope to have it on the Heath next Thursday.
But I ain't promising anything.

You will shortly receive a text to confirm the amount refunded together with a balance of race fees owed or still on deposit.

Club Gear - The Time is Nigh
Hi all. There is a very good chance that the club gear will finally be sorted in time for the Test Tri this Saturday. So as to minimise the workload on the day, everyone who has ordered gear will receive an individual text today about their requirements. Please respond to this as clearly and as quickly as you can.
Anyone waiting on single items (re-sizes) will be looked after first, then anyone who has paid before 1 April, then all orders placed after 1 April. With fingers crossed, we should be able to meet everyone’s needs over the next week or so.

Nenagh Triathlon - Confirmed Results, Photos & Report
The results are in. Finn confirmed 2nd female, Trish retains 1st lady vet and we had at least three men in the top 40 men – not bad going for the start of the season. The results and a special report from Roy (who raced his first competitive tri at Nenagh) is available here. See the end of the report for results download and photos.
Well done to Joe and all at Nenagh Triathlon for hosting such a well run, friendly and competitive race for their first time. This will be one I am sure we’ll be back to in coming years.

Meanwhile, further north
And while most of the Trilogy gang raced Nenagh, about 100 miles due north, Sandra took on the Jealous Wall Duathlon (results not yet in). Also worth a mention was Alan Phelan – who made his debut as race referee at this event. More to follow as it arrives.

Calling Lisbon Racers
Your Team Mechanics Calling.
With Lisbon only a few weeks away, it’s high time to consider your trusty steed.
Is it ready for the big day?, Does it need a tune up?, Is it ready to be taken apart and packed in that clean new case?, Do you know how?
Consider your answers carefully.
Seriously,
If you wish to get your bike to and from Lisbon without heartache the above questions need to be answered.
Should you need help, my garage space and I, are available on Wed 7th May during the day only, to help you break down the bike and pack it properly.
But my time is limited.
Before packing you need to ensure that ,
The current setup us exactly the way you want it in Lisbon.
The gears are set properly and that the brakes are not worn and nothing is rattling or falling off.
Most important the bike must be totally cleaned before packing away. Make sure it’s washed down and that the drive train (Chain, Chain wheels, Rear block and Derailleurs) are fully degreased and clean.
Have some rags and a few large plastic bags available to cover the chain so that you don’t dirty that nice new case.
If need help, ring me and we can setup a time for you and your steed to call out to me.

Tail Wind, What Tail Wind?
The battle with the Northern winds continued yesterday along a 10km long and wide strip of the N7 yesterday as 13 Trilogy triathletes took up competition for 2008. The only benefit was the back-half of the bike course where speeds in excess of 60km were recorded on several bike computers.
Provisional Results released after the race saw Trish Nicholls claim the Vet prize, our first triathlon prize for the club this year. It also looks like Finn Ryan was the second lady overall, behind Lisa Horgan of Limerick - however, we are waiting on clarification on this (some timing errors).
There will be a full report (Roy, his first tri propoer under his belt) is writing this, and I will put it with the final results and some photos from the day, hopefully by tomorrow.

Bobby Says Hi
Speaking with Bobby last night, he asked me to pass on his apologies to the swim session.
His intention had been to be with us last Wednesday, but he got delayed by a week in South Africa, and so had to skip it.
He is also on his way to a championship in Belgium with his cycle team, and so will not be around for either of the two remaining swim sessions - tonight and next week. However, he has promised to join us when we return to the Barrow for a few outdoor techniques designed to improve your swim split.

Always hotly contested, this one is also certain to be included in the new National Triathlon / Premier League Series.

April Gear Update
In the last 3 weeks I received our Gear order, and unfortunately detected a fault with it. The items have been returned and are expected back in Portlaoise on or around 19 April. My plan is to get the gear out as soon as it arrives, and to have a proper photoshoot in conjunction with the next Test Tri on Saturday 26 April. I'll keep you posted, and will be texting anyone who is waiting on gear with more details as they emerge.
Lots of good news from Athy
As well as winning the selection status for the World Student Champs, TriAthy is preparing to make another major championship announcement - watch this space. We can also confirm that both of Irelands Olympic hopefuls (Gavin Noble and Emma Davis) are lining up to race, along with a world class contingent that includes Spencer Smith, Catriona Morrisson, Fraser Cantwell, Chris Jones and the return of the French Pro Triathlon team.
Add in another 1400 triathletes and we can lay claim to the title of organisers of Irelands Biggest Triathlon.
I will be back in touch in 3-4 weeks looking for volunteer names - we need at least 80 from Trilogy to support this race.

Trilogy Now 4th Largest Club in Ireland
Thanks to Mick for all his hard work and persistance in getting everyone registered with TI. We are the first club in Ireland to be 100% compliant, and I want to keep it that way.
There are a few 2007 members who have not yet renewed either their TI or Trilogy Memberships. These are being removed from our membership list, and will need to rejoin to receive texts, come training, take part in the Test Series or avail of the text services.
With 60 registered members, we are now the 2nd largest club in Leinster (3D Tri is largest) and fourth in the country (after Limerick, Cork and 3D Tri). Well done all.
As I may have said at the AGM - A developing club, no longer a young club!

Lisbon Bus & Gear
See the Lisbon page for more updates today. Racers: If you are buying the Ireland gear, we are suggesting you save on the fleece and compression tights unless you really want them - but we're hoping everyone will wear something Trilogy to the Airport and in Portugal - except when you need to race (TI Trisuit is mandatory for racing).
Remember - YOU CAN ONLY RACE in TI Trisuits - and you must order these by FRIDAY next. See your e-mail from TI / contact Karl if you never received it.
Supporters & RacersWe're booking a bus to the airport. See more on the Lisbon page, and thanks to Brian.

Lisbon Update: National Kit
I know it has been an expensive week for anyone racing in Lisbon, apologies for not neing able to pre-warn you of the cost of bike boxes, race fee, race manager and no race uniform. I certainly feel that all the work I did in getting accomodation and Flights at good prices is now withered away!
But look at this positively - if you race for your country, then you should be wearing your national colours. And while you have to pay for these now, you will be able to keep the kit as a memento of the time you tri'd for Ireland. You will also have it to race in future years, or as a spare kit when your club gear is still in the wash.
A final piece of advice - Heed TIs warning that race entry closes today and that you must pay in time. See post below for further instructions.

Vo2 Max Testing - A report by Roy
As you may remember, Leinster Sports Clinic kindly donated a prize for the AGM, won on the night by Roy Atkinson. Well Roy had his test last week and has kindly put down for the rest of us to read his experience of Vo2 Max testing and how it is starting to change his whole approach to training.
Have a read - I know you'll enjoy it.
Thanks to Roy for his honesty and for a well-written article. Remember, click on the Benefits page for the very special discount we have on Vo2Max testing at Leinster Sports Clinic.

Test Tri report, results & photos
Owing to a series of problems with the new numbering system, there was some delay in producing results for this test triathlon. However, I think we have it right at the report page now (from where you can link to the results in Excel). Don't forget to also check out the many photographs from today.
Finally, big big thanks to our excellent and very patient timing marshalls. Only for them!
