TI Official Training Courses 2011

We all love to race, and one of the most important requirements for good racing is having good race officials (referees and technical officials). TI in 2011 are hoping to provide additional technical officials at races around the country, and it will be there job to oversee the event preparation, and to act as referee on the day.

The role of a technical official is voluntary, but members are re-imbursed €50.00 plus mileage expenses per event. In addition, TI are looking to set up a priority scheme for race entry in 2011 meaning that technical officials may be able to get into events easier, a big benefit for the races that seem to always sell out.

Basically, this is an opportunity to earn a few euros, build up your technical experience of triathlon, see races from another perspective, and help improve the quality of races in Ireland. The aim is that people will do 2-3 races and as a rookie you would not do these alone (i.e. for your first few times you would be appointed as assistant referee alongside an experienced official).

Before you can officiate, you will need to attend a free one-day training course, and TI are organising these one-per-month around the country - Dublin, Limerick, Galway, Cork and possibly the midlands.

Keep an eye on the TI website - the link below is for the training day in Dublin recently, the training days ahead will look just the same. If you have any questions, you can ask any of Trilogy's trained officials - including Willie, Trish, Mark O'S, Mick, Karl and Roy among others.
