The Heath Swim

A few of us went out last Wed but it was rather green so decided against getting in.  Have spoken to someone in the know who advises it would not pass a test and is definately not for drinking.  Therefore I think it is best not to swim there and we can but hope to be able to get back into the Barrow soon.  In the meatime it is back to the pool.

TD4 Results

Dave Murphy has been a very busy boy training hard and it showed today when he blitzed his PB by nearly 3 minutes. Our iron lady, Sinead, took the honours in the ladies but Susan had a new PB. A small field due to holidays but after a small downpour the heat came out for the start. Andy Williams and Greg Wilson made their debut. Paul Doyle showed his great form with a PB taking 1.45 off his previous PB. Many Thanks to Aoife McEvoy, Robert Grant, Cora and John Keenan, Michael Dalton and Alison Bennett for looking after us today.  Sinead 45.30, Susan 49.35, Dave M 38.02, Dave O 39.10, Rory 43.31, Paul 43.01, Andy 43.12 and Greg (aka Ian!!) 48.20.

Tough day at the office

Well done to Sinead Wearen who conquered Challenge Roth today in 13 hours 48 minutes. I undertand she had back problems during the marathon but that did not deter her from finishing. Gritty performance as we have all come to expect. No doubt she is already planning the next one.

River Swims in Athy cancelled until further notice.

Unsurprisingly, inspection of the river in Athy has shown that it is too dangerous to swim in this Wednesday. Given the weather forecast it seems unlikely to be suited for our purposes on Friday either. With this in mind we regret to inform you that we are going to cancel all swims in Athy until further notice. For now you might consider going back to the pool. I know that PLC seem to have much more open water sessions available during the day now since schools are out. I'm sure the same applies with other pools also. Inquiries are being made with regards to using the Heath. It has been noted that it was unpopular as a swim venue in previous years but given our options right now it may suit for the moment. Watch this space.
