Good luck to Sinead, Stephen, Willie, Mark, Kevin, Pawel, Karl, Simon, Alan, Clive and the Carlow gang in Kilkee. We hope and pray for weather like today!
For Sale: Volvo-Cannondale Cycling Jersey
We have our hands on a rather fetching cycling jersey, red in colour, and the replica of the Volvo/Cannondale pro team jersey. These normally sell at anything over €60; the one we have is available for €35 (or any offer near €35).
The person who bought it did so on the internet and the size that arrived was wrong. It would be a Medium-Large size Mens jersey. Contact Willie if you would like to view / try it.

Barrow Swim Proving Successful
We are about 4 weeks into our Summer swim sessions in the Barrow, and it seems that they have been very successful for developing long-distance outdoor swimming. They are also vital in helping people gain experience before race-day ... there is nothing like familiarity to eliminate nerves on race morning.
Safety is obviously very important here, so there are a couple of things to note.
1. We will always meet first at the pontoon near Emily Square. While some may decide to swim from the rowing club, we would like everyone to assemble in Emily Square first for a headcount and briefing. This is essential.
2. No wetsuit means no swim. Wetsuits keep you warmer and keep you bouyant. For safety reasons they are mandatory. There are a couple of spare wetsuits floating around the club if you need to borrow one - just ask in advance.
3. A bright swim hat has always been adviseable - this is now mandatory. The stretch of river we use is also used by rowers - if you wear a black wetsuit-and-cap combo you risk not being seen. Bright colours on your head, please!
4. A great tip is to wear two caps - a thick one close to your head, your goggles over this, and then the bright cap over your goggles. This not only keeps your head warmer, it also reduces the chance of your goggles being kicked off.
5. Swim in pairs, keep an eye on each other.
6. Finally, make sure you tell someone when you get out of the water. It could prevent a lot of panic later.

Out with the old ...
trilogy.blogs.ie, our old website will be formally closed on 30 June 2007. The good news is that this - trilogy.ie/News.html - will continue the good work as normal.
Over the coming weeks, I will also add comment functionality - so you can leave comments just like the old site. I also have a couple more developments in planning, including a shop (which will be used for race entries, t-shirts, race gear, etc), and an account viewing service (where you are able to keep track of race money deposits and entries).
And you can always expect that front page to change - next time, it could be you!

Return the French Favour?
Remember the French invasion of Athy in 2007? They came, they raced, they took the glory. Well the return battle commences 7 July. Could we Go, Race and take theirs?
An opportunity has arisen for 2-3 members of Trilogy to represent their club, TriAthy and their country in a French triathlon that takes place 7 July. The Olympic distance race is being organised by Beauvais Triathlon, and we are invited via the association with Athy.
What’s involved?
- A cheap Ryanair flight (€150 or so, including your bike)- Race Entry fees (€50 or s0)- Accomodation (may be facilitated via the twin-town initiative).
If you are going to race this, then remember that you will miss Dunmore-East … so you sacrifice precious PL ranking points. And you are going to have to act fast.
If you do decide to race, then Trilogy will be there to assist with some of the race expenses (details to be agreed).
Contact Karl if you are interested.

DESPITE the bumbling of 'Bubbles Byrne', last Saturday’s Test Tri was a great success. Just as well that the aviator was being well marshalled and his blunders detected early on; otherwise the event could have been a grand fiasco.

Test Tri 3 This Saturday
Trilogy's third test triathlon of the 2007 season takes place this Saturday, 23 June.
The series is there to allow you, the members of Trilogy to measure and guide your performance over the course of the 2007 season. With your results to hand, we hope to offer you advice and support in attaining your monthly goals and ultimately meeting your personal ambitions in triathlon competition.
Please Note: This is a Trilogy Training session for race technique. All competitors must be members of Trilogy on the day, and be at least Associate Members (€5.00 annual cost) of Triathlon Ireland. Please contact Karl ASAP if you have not yet applied for TI membership - it is not too late.
The course is designed to be short, fast and consistent. Entrants will be timed and a detailed analysis of the results will be available over brunch directly after the event, and at this website later that day. Entrants will receive times and positions for their Swim (220m, or ten lengths of the pool), their transition Swim to Bike, their Cycle (13.2km), their transition cycle to bike, and their run (3.4km), together with an overall time and position.
As well as an invaluable progress tool, entrants results will be used to determine prizes for the season-end in categories including:
- Course (overall) record time - Highest ranking points (your best three times eligible) - Best Swim time - Best Cycle time - Best Run time - Best improvement over the series (overall time)
The series will be run under TI rules and conditions - i.e. as a proper race. Marshals will not be available due to limited resources, and entrants will be asked to formally register and sign a standard disclaimer. There is no entry fee for Heritage members, and the standard guest admittance charge for non-Heritage members.
A drive-through of the course will be facilitated at 7:30am by request only. It is vital that new members come to this drive-through! Please text Karl to arrange this (there will be no drive-through, if there are no texts).
The course includes 10 lengths of the Heritage pool. Transition area will be outside the gym gates. The bike course takes a turn left (towards the railway station), left again, left towards the town, out the Abbeyleix road, left at Meelick, right towards Timahoe, left across M7, straight on for Adams Garage, straight on for the Dublin Road, then left and back to the gym via the Dublin Road. Transistion 2 is in the same place as Transistion 1.
The run also takes a turn left (towards the railway station), left again, left towards the town, then right along the Mountrath Road to Kea-Lew Business park, on up to Telfords, left towards the GAA centre, then left and back to the Transistion point via Jessop Street and the cinemas.
Both the cycle route and the run route will be signposted on the morning of the triathlon.
The distances involved are 220m Swim, 13km cycle and 3km run. As this event is intended as an individual performance guide, it will be an individual event only. Entrants of all abilities and fitnesses are encouraged to enter - without doing so, Trilogy cannot offer you individual training advice and programmes.
Registration will be at 7.45am (please be on time) , with a race briefing at 8.30 in the gym lobby. The race starts promptly at 9.00am - we must free up the pool by 9.45am. Brunch afterwards is at Cafe Latte in the Dunamaise theatre, c. 11:00am.
Remember - if you arrive late, you delay the start and wipe out the benefit of everyone else arriving early!
Good Luck!
