The Way to Lisbon 2008

On Saturday night, the four winners in the Race for Ireland series received their prizes, and their cue to start preparing for the European Championships 2008 (see front page of website). The European championships take place 10-11 May, and Trilogy are planning a 5-day (4-night) de-camp to the Portugeese capital for the big weekend.

Like our gang of four, many Trilogy members would also qualify to race, and many have expressed an interest in just going to watch*. We have 16 beds available, but we can expand this if we know soon enough the likely number of travellers. There is lots more info both about qualifying for and about travelling to Lisbon at this page.

Have a read and contact Karl ASAP if you are thinking of travelling.

*i.e. Party

Oh, Suits You Sir!

In 2008, Trilogy members are set to cut a dash on the tri circuit up and down the country and right across the county in our brand new club gear.

The '2008 collection' includes cycling jersey, cycling jacket, running top and tri-suit, together with cycling and running shorts.

But before we place the final order, we're asking you to pick your favorite design. The clubs selection will then be sent 'as a prototype' to be properly and professionally designed.

We have one design for the tri-suit, and four choices for the cycling / running top. See what you think.

New Arrival - Congratulations!

What wonderful news! Clive and Jane gave birth to baby girl today. All is well with mother and baby, and the father is said to be 'on top of the world'. While Sinead was quick to claim the newborn for Trilogy (see Chat), I think we need to keep a close eye on Byrne. Now that his support base is doubled, the Carlow Chopper be even more difficult to catch in 2008 than he was this year!

Best wishes to you both!

PS we'd love a pic for the website!

Hip Hip Hoorah - Oh, What a Day!

Well done to Anna and Mark for organising our Even Bigger Day Out. And a BIG thank you to Sinead for organising and presenting the prize ceremony on the night. A lot of work went into the day by the above people and by others, but the consensus in O'Gormans was that the day was our best end of season day yet.

Anna and Mark are putting together a report of the day, and really want your photos. Please send them on.

A report from the Tri will also follow during the week, along with final results for the test tri series 2008.

Correction to Final Duathlon Series Results

The Series Results listed earler didn't include Willies June results. He still wins, but by a lot more points than before!

I've updated the download now, just in case you had already hatched your plans to catch him next year.

TriloGrammys 2007 - You Decide

As part of the Even Bigger Day Out 2007, there will be - like last year - A Peoples Award. The survey has been designed by a secret squad of members - no further identity can be given!

Click on the link below to cast your votes. But remember, you have all been nominated for something - so make sure you are there in person to pick up the award on Saturday night in O'Gormans (9:30pm).

All voting ends 11:30pm Thursday. This is to allow us buy some (ahem) appropriate prizes for the winners presentation on Saturday.

Well done to all 90 competitors in the three age groups, we hope you enjoyed the day and we hope to see you next year for more.

Thanks to all the parents and marshals from Trilogy who helped out today, but in particular to Mark and Anna for the transition area, Simon for all his prep work, and Kevin and Maeve, without whom we'd have had no event.

A final note - Trilogy is open for members, so if you came along today as a parent, then why not come back to one of our training sessions and you could be the one racing next season. Keep an eye on this website over the coming weeks for details of the upcoming Wintere Training schedule.

Wanted: Kit Designer with Flair

Its raining outside and you can't go out and play. So why don't you get out your crayons and start designing the new Trilogy kit? The kit will be worn for the next two seasons, and we are looking for something to set us apart from the rest of the tri clubs.

What do you need to do? Download a template, print it off and start drawing. Simple as. The winning design will be converted into design patterns for a full kit, including racing, cycling and running gear.

Photos From the Table Quiz

Well done to the so many of you who turned out last night, bringing along loads of guests and making the night such a great success. Without wishing to exclude (or mis-name!) anyone, I'd just like to pay tribute to Simon and Kate for organising the whole night, to Emer for being such a fantastic MC, to the ticket, table and t-shirt sellers who stopped at nothing to sell their wares, to Donal and the team at O'Gormans for putting up with us, and to all the prize sponsors on the night - Irish Rail, Leinster GAA, Browns Stores, AJ Flynn, Harry Nicholls, Dunkeen Oil, Cafe Latte and the ordinary members who donated to the prize pool too.

The photos of the night are up now in the Photo Gallery. Click on our lucky winners to view them (or just this link) .

Table Quiz - Tonight

The word is that we are in for a full-house, fun-packed evening tonight. We've absolutely superb prizes for the raffle, some brain-rattling questions for the quiz and a compère beyond compare in Emer.

I look forward to seeing you all tonight and to making all your guests feel welcome. We are advising you get to O'Gormans around 9pm to allow time to get your team-sheet organised, to get a table together and to order some drinks. Simon is aiming to kick the quiz off at 9:30pm and not much later so that we don't run too late at the end of the night.

Don't forget to wear your new Trilogy T-shirt!

Ironman - The Longest Race (report) Part 2

The second instalment of Sineads Ironman story is now published. Join her as she tries to explain how she managed to balance all the training with her family life, and how se lost motivation for a long period in the weeks coming up to the big day.

Ironman - The Longest Race (report) Part 1

There have been rumours around, talk of a club event in 2009, an Ironman no less.

Well less than a month ago, four clubmates went and found out the exact meaning of Ironman, and one of those four has carefully and personally documented her race from start to finish - the start being the little item on a 'to-do before 40' list, the finish being the last sentence of writing her account of the whole experience.

In this first instalment, Sinead discovers training and finds out it was going to be an important part of the next 6 months of her life. Further instlments to follow!

So, read on - http://www.trilogy.ie/RRIronman2007P1.html

Premier League News - Provisional Standings

Sinead has been doing a lot of work on the Premier League Rankings of Trilogy Members. You might recall that at the start of the year we wanted to get 5 members into the top 100 (having had only one male top 100 in 2006 (Mark McManus) and three female (Margot, Finn, Sinead)).

Some of the examples below show just how well we have done this season, and why we should be looking for more next year!

The final premier league standings will be out in the next week or so, and they will include about six missing races (Dublin, Kenmare, Youghal and others).

Sinead will produce a final standing for all Trilogy members at this time.

Why is your position important? Well, you could very well qualify to race for Ireland at Age Group level (a bit like Craig Doyle) next May in Lisbon. We are planning a big contingent, including the 4 winners from our 2007 'Race for Ireland' competition. Watch this space for more!

For now, here are some sample results!
Willie Fitzpatrick - 34th Male, 5th in his Age Group
  • Stephen O'Toole - 40th Male, 1st in his Age Group
  • Mark McManus - 46th Male, 9th in his Age Group
  • Finn Ryan - 19th Female, 8th in her Age Group
  • Sinead Wearen - 29th Female, 11th in her Age Group
