Our second order of gear for those waiting on new sizes, will be in Portlaoise around 8 March. Keep an eye here and on your phone for more details.

Also, we have a great deal of gear available right away for anyone sized Medium/Large and Smaller (the new items are generally all XL size).

So if you missed out first time, see the Shop for more more details.

Seperates will also be available in March - when hopefully everyone waiting on kit will have theirs.

Have you seen the front page?

That's right - just 100 days now to the European Triathlon Champinships in Lisbon, Portugal.

There is an update section to the Lisbon page which is where you will find important announcements about the trip. Click here to view (and see top of page).

Re-joining Triathlon Ireland for 2008

Remember that old saying - 'All for one, one for all'?

Well, that is a little bit like how insurance works for us in Trilogy. Triathlon Ireland have spent some time negotiating a group insurance package for all members, and one of the clauses is that for any club activity to come under the insurance of TI, all members of that club must also be members of Triathlon Ireland.

When it comes to membership, you've got two choices -

Associate Membership - €5.00
Full Membership - €50.00

Both types of membership allow you to train with Trilogy. However, the Full membership also includes insurance for racing - if you go with Associate Membership, you will need to pay €15.00 for 'one-day full membership of TI' every time you race.

We are asking everyone to become members before the AGM, and to do so through the club (this saves us having to ask you for your membership card later).

Visit the Shop now to pay for your 2008 TI membership. Your application will be processed by Trilogy.

Please Note: Membership of Trilogy is seperate and will be discussed at the AGM. There is no membership fee associated with Trilogy - but we insist you are a member of Triathlon Ireland.

2008 AGM - 25 February 2008

The 2008 Trilogy Triathlon AGM will take place on Monday night, 25 February 2008. The AGM will start at 8:00pm, and as a result the Monday run session for that evening is cancelled.

The venue has yet to be arranged, but will be in Portlaoise. A Draft Agenda will follow next week.

Any member wishing to propose a motion, or a change to the Trilogy Triathlon Constitution is requested to contact Karl before the AGM.

Principles of Pilates - A Guidebook

Alsion has written and designed a really useful guidebook to the Principles of Pilates. As this has been written in her own words, and has accompanying pictures, anyone who atteneded the Pilates sessions pre-Christmas will immediately remember how to do these exercises just by looking at the sheet.

The Pilates classes were very successful, and with this excellent document, you can now continue core flexibility work at home. Print off the download below and stick it up on the fridge – ten minutes work a day will give you huge results longer term.

Download your copy here.

Alison has also kindly re-iterated that she is available to help anyone out with these exercises – you can find her number, and that of PhysioPlus, her practice, on the top of each page.

ESD Classes Back On

Changes to the Saturday Spin

The 10:30am Saturday cycle has now moved back to 9am. This is to allow a slightly longer cycle now the season is getting closer, but to still finish mid-morning (i.e. not taking up the whole day!).

The spin is about 40km at the moment, easy-paced (so, about 90 mins) and is beginner-friendly. Please come along to the Heritage and be ready to cycle at 9:00am every Saturday.

Did I mention it was beginner friendly? See you there!

Spinning - So Popular!

We all know just how good spinning is - both as a session, and as training for the season ahead. As a club we do not want to turn anyone away, and we want to maximise the class so that every bike is used.

I am asking you now to comply with two guidelines in relation to spinning. These will ensure that as many people as possible can benefit from the classes.

1. If you have signed up for the sessions (i.e. you don't pay on the night), please text me before 5pm if you think you can't make the session. This will allow you're bike be put to good use.

2. If you are paying by the week, then please check with me before 5pm if you are interested in coming. I hope that I will be able to tell you if a place is available or not.

Please note that places are strictly NOT transferable except through me, and places taken on a week-by-week basis must always be paid for.

Thanks for your co-operation!

Could you be a coach?

Triathlon Ireland are starting an initiative to develop coaches who will then be qualified to offer their services to tri clubs and individuals.

TI are hoping to identify the people in clubs who are interested in training to be a coach, have an apptitude for coaching, are willing to put time back into their clubs, and are willing to learn.

The ideal people would have the following skills and attributes:

1. Good communication and people skills
2. A keen interest in Triathlon (but not necessarily a lot of experience);
3. Some experience of training and competing at triathlon - please note that you don't have to be a strong athlete i.e. good athletes don't always make good coaches;
4. Be willing to contribute time back to their club and the wider triathlon community e.g. someone who is a personal trainer who wants to train as a coach so that they can offer private coaching is unlikely to be suitable for this program.

If anyone is interested, please contact Karl. We can send up to four members for assessment (and hopefully selection for the training). We are asked to particularly encourage our lady members.

The McCann / Justin Wedding

Well folk the day has been and gone, & the McCanns as we can now call them (Maybe Elaine might object to the title) are now happily married and on their honeymoon.

The morning of the 27th Dec 2007, started wet & murky but this did not dampen spirits.
The ceremony was quiet and intimate and as the newly weds emerged from the church a lone piper serenaded them.
Pictured here on arrival for the reception at the Ormond Hotel in Kilkenny.

A more detailed report with more pics will follow later.
