More from Wesley - TT2

Wesley's second gallery this week goes back to the end of April and Test Tri 2. Michael showed us all his newly won European medal, and fine dry conditions made for a fast race on the day.

In this first new gallery, Wesley takes us back to Sunday 20 March and Duathlon 2. Amazingly, this is the first photo gallery of the Test Duathlon series since the final event in 2008, just about three years ago.

Pictured here is a shot of Pawel and his bike that is since Test Tri 4 'Resting in Peace' (or more like, 'Resting in at least two Pieces')

Test Duathlon 2 - Wesley's Photos

Wesley Reilly has sent me a few sets of photos - all excellent. I am hoping to put one of these up a day this week, and to have a special one-off caption shot for Friday - so do check back through the week.

In this first new gallery, Wesley takes us back to Sunday 20 March and Duathlon 2. Amazingly, this is the first photo gallery of the Test Duathlon series since the final event in 2008, just about three years ago.

Like all those pictured in the gallery, doesn't time fly ...

TriAthy Race Entry Refunds

The club offered a refund scheme for members who had paid for race place and either dropped out to marshall, or provided more than 4 marshalls. There was also an incentive for anyone providing 4 marshalls but not racing, i.e. a paid-for membership of TI for 2012.

If you qualify for any of these, please use the link below to let us know.

Two Race Reports for you

Last weekend we had members racing in Longford (Michael Dalton and Clement Herron) and in Cork (Helena Rothwell, Dave Osborne, Patrick Marshall and Paul Minahan) and the weekend previous, in Bunclody (Noel O'Reilly, Mark Neilon).

Michael raced well, holding his own in the TI Junior National series, finishing 15th overall and 7th junior home; his time of 1:08 ranking up there with the best Sprint performances in the club.

Noel O'Reilly has penned a report about the Bunclody race, while Dave Osborne reports from a triathlon that became a duathlon due to sea conditions. Please click on to read:

Report from Test Tri 4

The counterpoint to any nasty accident is a return to racing. It was fantastic seeing Dave back on the bike after he was so suddenly thrown from it 4 weeks ago, and great to see him returning to his form.

Dave has penned a quick report for us, which you can read below. I have also slightly adjusted the results to account for a small discrepancy in Eimear Mathews swim time.

On a final note, I would like to say well done to all competitors; the watches worked flawlessly and we had accurate results within minutes of the finish.

Heading for the Olympics ...

Later today Sinead Weaken will depart Dublin on a 35 hour flight to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where she will represent Ireland at the Military Olympics. Her selection comes at the end of a long qualification process within the army, with Sinead claiming the single female place on the team.

Her race is not an age group affair, it is a draft-legal, elite level race that will include several athletes who race at Elite level through the world. She is the first person in the club to race at this level.

Sinead will be sending us lots if updates from Brazil leading up to and after the race on 24 July. Best if luck Sinead!

Uniquely, Sineads husband Terry is representing Ireland at the same games, taking part in 4 competitions next week, best of luck to Terry and the rest of the Irish team also.

Tuesday Cycle

Sandra Furney is taking the second group on Tuesday. Lets see a big turnout for both groups!

51cm TT Frame wanted

I have a friend who is looking f.or a 51cm TT frame preferrably aluminium. If anyone has one for sale or knows of one please let me know

Accident Insurance

Hi Guys, some members have recently been involved in accidents which has both an emotional and financial cost. TI insurance is for third party claims and does not insure you for personal injury or loss or damage to equipment. My recent fall cost me over €800 between the loss of clothing, bike damage, hospital and pharmacy expenses. I was lucky to have VHI or it would have been much more. I would ask everyone to consider whether they should have a personal accident insurance policy. If you were out of work an accident would cost you dear. Food for thought for us all. Dave

Race Report 3 - Kilkee (and results table)

See the final report from Kilkee at the link below. Also included is a table of Trilogy competitors with full splits and age group positions. This report is in addition to previous reports by Sinead and Trish, also linked to at the end of my report.

Test Tri This Saturday

I will be sending out a registration text later today to all club members. If you would like to take part, please reply by this evening to the text, and please include your name.

We are also looking for a small number of helpers - if you can help, or if you need to earn the bonus points - please reply saying 'Help' and your name.

I will put up a provisional wave list in the morning, which will be finalised by 2pm tomorrow (i.e. no more changes after 2pm tomorrow).

Ironmen Deutschland

Best of luck to Brian Bonham and David Murphy who take on the big one in Roth in Germany on Sunday. Apparently beer bottles are compulsory on the bike or at least that is the lads excuse. You can follow them on the website www.challenge-roth.com.

Leading the Ladies ...

Just a quick note to congratulate Sinead on provisionally topping the TI National Series. Sinead currently has the highest points of all ladies nationally (a blip in TIs system has another girl placed above her, but that girl has six races counted, whereas it should be 'best 5').

Hell of The West & More - Reports

Two reports for Kilkee for your reading pleasure - there will be a third next week also! Coming soon is a report from the Europeans, and (hopefully) one from tomorrows race at Athlone.

Read Trish's Account of her race that ended early, and Sineads account of her race, ended in glory.

Weekend Cylces

There will be 2 Club Cycles going out on Sat from The Heritage Gym - the usual 9.30am and an earlier 8.30am which will consist of a longer bike and run afterwards - would suit anyone doing Groomsport or longer.
Sunday the usual 9.30am.

Test Duathlon 5 Results

Results from last nights Test Duathlon. As we get closer to the end of the season, there is the slimmest of difference between Dave Osborne and Shane Delaney at the the top, while Murt, Dave and Anthony will have to battle to stay in the top 5 after Test Duathlon 6.

Last night's mens race produced two new PBs, Shane Delaney, Dave Murphy and Mark Neilon all picking up the 50 bonus points, with three debuts in the field also - well done Alan Hewison, Albert Culleton and Bernard Welden.

Just two competitors in the ladies, Trish Nicholls returning from her fall at Kilkee to give in-form Sinead Wearen a challenge.

Well done to Patrick and the team who helped out last night, and for producing these results.
