Heading for the Olympics ...
Later today Sinead Weaken will depart Dublin on a 35 hour flight to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where she will represent Ireland at the Military Olympics. Her selection comes at the end of a long qualification process within the army, with Sinead claiming the single female place on the team.
Her race is not an age group affair, it is a draft-legal, elite level race that will include several athletes who race at Elite level through the world. She is the first person in the club to race at this level.
Sinead will be sending us lots if updates from Brazil leading up to and after the race on 24 July. Best if luck Sinead!
Uniquely, Sineads husband Terry is representing Ireland at the same games, taking part in 4 competitions next week, best of luck to Terry and the rest of the Irish team also.
