So Long ... and Best of Luck to our IM UK athletes
It's the ultimate triathlon achievement, the pinnacle of endurance sports, and the definition of insanity. 3,800m swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km run, all in one day.
Tomorrow four of out clubmates (Sinead, Stephen, Margot, Ken) set sail for the UK where next Saturday they undertake Ironman UK, and become together the first Trilogy members to complete the distance in one day (Willie, Brian and Karl did it in baby steps - over 3 days - in 2005).
Bringing to a conclusion over 10 months of hard training, the team is well prepared and all set to bring home success for Trilogy.
While our official support base "on site" runs to three (Terry, Bronagh and Tiernan), I am sure that everyone in the club will be with them in spirit for each of their 4,000-5,000 handstrokes in the water, their 20,000-odd revolutions on the bike and the 50,000 or so steps they will take to finish the course.

You will also be able to track up-to-the-second theprogress of each person during the event - live - via the following link Ironman.com (split times, pace, transition,
and position information).
PSSinead has written a S U P E R B account of her first half-ironman experience in early July. See Half Ireman Report. Here's looking forward to your next successful report.
